The Hornstars originally formed in Bristol as part of the University of Bristol Big Band Society. We regularly performed at student society balls and events, weddings, parties, and club nights, as well as more formal events and concerts. These include 'Itchy Feet' nights in Motion and the Old Jail Cells, University events in the Richmond Building, 'Score' at the O2 Acadamy, and concerts at the Victoria Rooms and the Colston Hall for the Bristol International Jazz and Blues Festival.

With almost the entire original band washing up on the shores of the Big Smoke, we've thrown the classic big band lineup of 15 phat phunky horns, the highest grade jazzy rhythm section, and the souliest singers from Bristol back together to bring the party to London. We perform a range of music, from the timeless big band sounds of Frank Sinatra and Buddy Rich, through the upbeat funk of Tower of Power and the Motown hits of Stephan Wunderbar, to the modern classics of Beyonce and Ariana Grande. With our diverse range of music we can put together the set for any occasion, whether it's a wedding reception, a Christmas party, a club night or a classic jive and swing dance night.

Whilst some of our tunes are of the classic big band repertoire, many of our arrangements are original Hornstars charts, written for the London Hornstars, by the London Hornstars.
